The Paris correspondent of “The Times” says that thousands of holidaymakers at the seaside resort of St. Tropex, who were watching with interest the French submarine, Atalante, attempting to sink the blazing yacht Hippocampe, fled panic-stricken when shells began to land among them. The Hippocampe, laden with four tons of petrol, had caught fire, menacing harbour craft.
