THE WEATHER.
DULL BUT MILD CONDITIONS. With a heavily overcast sky, the weather in AshJurton this morning was mild, with a fairly warm temperature. A north-westerly wind blew at times and a few drops of rhin fell. Only two degrees of frost, the lightest for two weeks, were recorded at the (Domain weather station this morning. The maximum temperature of 58 degrees yesterday was the highest since the beginning of July. The inside minimum at night was 31 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning had fallen to 29.36 inches from 29.75 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST, (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: A vigorous depression is crossing the Dominion and is being followed by a secondary. Pressure is rising rapidly over easteni Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: . Moderate to strong northerly to 1 * north-westerly winds of gale force in the north area, but a. southerly change during to 7 morrow. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with rain later, temperatures mild, but becoming much colder to-morrow. Seas moderate, but later increasing.
