NOT ON DIANA.
EMPEROR AT DJIBOUTI. FREE TO LEAVE ON ANY SHIP. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, May 3. Haeli Selassie and the Empress and their entourage did not board the destroyer Diana at Djibouti, which has no connection with the Emperor’s flight. Shots were fired after Abyssinians prevented an Italian photographing the party, which arrived in the hottest part of the clay. The Governor and his staff received the Emperor and party in full-dress uniform with an escort of Senegalese troops. The Empress was heavily veiled and was the first to leave the train, followed by Haeli Selassie, with the Crown Prince, the former bareheaded and wearing a white robe with lawn cape, and looked careworn. The troops saluted as the exiles entered the waiting conveyances. The people paid respectful greetings. A French official declared that his Majesty would he treated with the respect due to a monarch in distress, and
ho would be allowed full liberty to embark on any ship. The Emperor has not abdicated, lmt has handed over the Government to his Ministers at the Abyssinian Legation. London corroborates this.
