PRIVATE AERODROME.

BUILDING FOR THE KING. Tho “Daily Telegraph” states that a private aerodrome for the King is to be built in Windsor Great Park in the near future. Recently the. Park was surveyed near Frogmore for a site suitable for the heavier machines which the King has recently purchased. A site has been found.

The King’s request for a private aerodrome so near Windsor is significant. It disposes of a report that he was giving up aeroplane travel. Air travel enables the King to save much valuable time in keeping engagements, and in consequence he has been able to carry out more extensive programmes than would other wise have- been the case. At present, tho King’s aeroplanes are kept at Hendon. When bis Majesty first became a private aeroplane owner his choice was a small two-seater. He later bought a larger aeroplane, and subsequent purchases to the number of ten have been of heavier and largei aeroplanes. , , Smith’s Lawn, near Fort Belvedere, was an adequate landing and takmgoff ground for bis first light machine. The larger and heavier machines, however required the facilities of Hendon. Last year the King purchased his most modern and fully-equipped ma-chine-—a live-sea ter do Havilland Rapido. This machine accommodates his Majesty and members of his suite and includes facilities for light refreshments while in the air.
