FRUIT AND PRODUCE. THE ASHBURTON MARKET. With a falling-off in the supply of tomatoes in the Ashburton fruit and produce market the price has firmed, being,about a penny a pound dearer. The week has been fairly quiet. Marrow supplies have become more plentiful, and are selling according to size. Quinces and onions have shown a slight firming in price. A good supply of cooking and dessert pears is available, and these are being sold in case lots. Potatoes have firmed by sixpence a sugar-bag. Values are as follow: Potatoes —3s a sugar-bag. Bacon —lOd to lid a lb. Wheat—Seconds, 12s to 13s a sack. Honey—6id to 7d a lb* Onions —Id a lb. Walnuts—fid and fib a lb. Tomatoes —2d and a lb. Peaches —3s to 4s fid a case. The milling wheat market is unchanged.
