PACIFIC SHIPPING.
NO QUESTION OF RESTRICTION. DANGER OF RETALIATION. (United Press Association— Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.35 P-m.) LONDON, April 17. The Australian Press Association is authoritatively assured that there is no basis for the report that negotiations in regard to Pacific shipping included the question of restricting th carriage of Dominion goods to British ships. The matter has not been broached and the certainty of retaliation, which would undermine the essential universality of British shipping, would produce quick abandonment if the sug gestion were officially raised. PROPOSALS FOR THE CONFERENCE THREE MAIN COURSES LONDON, April 16. The “Daily Telegraph,” referring to the discussions regarding Pacific snipping say that the proposals include the following: — . Firstly, direct and indirect subsidies. Secondly Dominion goods shall he carried only in British ships. Thirdly, Government assistance m building new and faster ships.
