PERSONAL.

The Hon. F. Waite, M.L.C., passed through Ashburton on the south-bound express this morning.

Mr H. E. Herring, M.P., returned to Ashburton from Wellington this morning.

The Rev. Angus Mcßean, who has succeeded the Rev. G.’B. Hinton, will conduct his first services in the Baring Square Methodist Church to-morrow.

Mr Adolph Mann, Trinity College examiner, England, has accepted an invitation to judge the grqnd choral and grand opera aria, contests at the Dunedin Competitions Society’s festival this year. He will have associated with him Mr Victor C. Peters (conductor of the Ashburton Choral Society) and Mr Claude H. Davies, both ot Christchurch.

In recognition of the services of Catholic clergy and teachers to the Jugoslavs in New Zealand, the presentation has been made to Bishop Liston (Auckland) of the Order of St. Sava (second class), which was bestowed on him by King Peter 11. (says a Press Association telegram from Auckland) There was a large gathering. The presentation was made by the Jugoslav Consul (Mr J. M. Totitch), supported by the Mayor (Mr Ernest Davis), the Dean of the Consular Corps (Mr W. F. Boyle) and others.
