MR BRUCE’S FUTURE.

SPECULATION IN LONDON. MIGHT ENTER COMMONS. LONDON, March 24. The impression created hy Mr S. M. Bruce’s chairmanship of the League Council has revived rumours that he many enter British politics. Mr Bruce’s only comment on the latest statement, namely, that he would go into the House of Commons at the expiration of his term as High Commissioner for Australia, was: “They have been saying that for 10 years.” Mr Bruce has always been reticent about his future. In any case, he will probably defer his decision as his High Commissionership lasts until 1938. Those in close touch with Mr Bruce state that, if he is faced with the alternatives of returning to the hurly-burly

of Australian politics or of going to Westminster, he will choose the latter because he could win any Conservative seat hands-down. It will be largely a question of which party' is in power in either country at the time.
