EDUCATION SYSTEM.
RECONSTRUCTION COMPLETED. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 16. With the co-operation of the educational authorities, the Minister of Education hopes to reconstruct the educational policy, ho told the Auckland Board this morning. A big task was ahead, not merely concerning administrative functions, but the arrears which had accumulated. It was impossible to deal immediately with ali the problems—overcrowding, or to modernise the buildings and play areas—but it was at least possible to set the goal and see in a reasonable period of years an attempt made to overtake the arrears which had accumulated to such an alarming extent in the depression, years. The work would involve a large expenditure but the position had to be faced. The Minister expressed appreciation of the offers of assistance received from hoards, committees, secondary and technical boards and university councils, the desire to help being almost overwhelming. He paid a tribute to the devotion and enthusiasm of board and committee members throughout New Zealand.
