MR COATES IN CAR COLLISION. (Special to the “Guardian”). AUCKLAND, Alarch 15. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates narrowly escaped injury when the small sedan car he was driving collided with another car on the Main North. Mr Coates, who was accompanied by his wife, was travelling from his home at Matakohe to the Kumeu show, and the collision occurred at a dangerous bend in the road. Mr Coates’s car was struck head-on by a large sedan driven by Mr N. A. Gazzard, a traveller for Kempthorne, Prosser, Ltd., who was accompanied by his sister-in-law. Both of the cars were extensively damaged and had to be removed hv a breakdown waggon. Their occupants, however, escaped serious injury with bruising and bad shakings. They were given first aid by! two local residents, who later took Air Coates and his wife to the show in their own car.
