CROWN LANDS.
REVALUATION NOW POSSIBLE. STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER, The statement of a member of the Ashburton branch of the New Zealand Crown Tenants’ Association, at a meeting oil. March 6, that he had been informed by the Crown Lands Department, Christchurch, that the Department was in a position to receive applications for revaluation only, and than, revaluation could not take place till after the end of June, has been brought to the notice of the Minister of Lands (the Hon. F. Langstone). The statement has been corrected by Mr Langstone, who, in a. telegram to the president of the Ashburton branch (Mr J. H. Robertson) advises that Crown tenants, by filing in application forms, can obtain a revaluation of their holdings.
Mr Langstone’s telegram reads:— “The statement that revaluation cannot be made before June of this year is incorrect. Legislation passed last session resuscitated revaluation 8 provisions as from the passing of the Act. Committees have been set up and: applications are now being considered. Applications should be made to the Commissioner of Crown Lands for the necessary forms.” “I appreciate the interest shown by the Minister of Lands and am grateful for his telegram,” said Mr Robertson. “Tenants should now proceed with their applications.”
