LANGLEY CUP MATCH CANTERBURY BEATS ASHBURTON The annual Langley Cup bowling match, played between the Canterbury Centre and the Ashburton Sub-Centre at Rakaia on Saturday, resulted in a win for Canterbury by 11 points, the scores being 131 to 120. Ashburton was represented by two rinks each from the Ashburton, Allenton, and Rakaia Clubs and one from Methvcn. Ihe presentation of the cup was made to Mr W. Healey, the winners being congratulated on their victory by Mr C. Carrigan (president of the Ashburton Sub-Centre). Opportunity was also taken to present a rose bowl to W. The annual bowling match between country clubs and Canterbury was played on the Canterbury green on Saturday afternoon. Ten rinks represented were Akaroa, Darfield, Dunsandel, Ashburton, Allenton, Southbridge, Leeston, Rakaia, Sheffield and Oxford. The country rinks started badly, but gradually improved and made a splendid fight for victory, scoring 201 points to their opponents’ 210. Details of the games in which Ashburton took part are: Allenton (Wilkie, Welch, Boothroyd, Stevenson) 13, Canterbury 21. Rakaia (Street, Tatterson, Cromie, Black) 14, Canterbury 23.
