Rioters set fire to a church, at San Ignacio. Many valuable paintings and sculptures were destroyed. Firemen fought desperately to prevent the flames spreading to the Puerta Del Sol. The police were greeted with a hail of bullets. The Guard, however, shot and wounded two rioters who set fire to the Sail Ignacio Convent, which was soon a mass of flames. The nuns saved, the nunnery at Santa Isabella from destruction. A mob attempted to set fire to the office of the Catholic newspaper “El Debate,” but the Guards inside repulsed them with rifle fire. All is quiet now. Senor Jose de Rivera, a former Dictator’s son, and' other members of the Fascist Board of Directors, including the famous airman Julio Ruizalda, have been arrested for belonging to an illegal body. Serious rioting occurred early this morning in the town of Logrono. The riots followed a clash between Socialists and Fascists. Four churches, two convents, a Catholic Club and, the Fascist Club were burned down. One man was killed and six seriously wounded. Police troops restored order. CHURCH AND NEWSPAPER OFFICE. Communists returning from the funeral of Detective Gisbert, whom students shot in mistake for Jimenez Assu, a Deputy, whom he was escorting, set fire to the offices of the monarchist newspaper “La Nacion,” which were gutted. Two were wounded in a. police clash with Communists, in which 60 .shots were fired at a 'demonstrator who tried to rain a gunshop to procure arms. After that they robbed motorists of petrol to ignite the church of San Lins.
