THE WEATHER.
CONDITIONS FINE AGAIN TO-DAY. After somewhat unsettled conditions in Ashburton during the week-end, the weather was fine again to-day. Although a strong southerly wind arose on Saturday, little rain resulted, and fine, warm conditions were experienced yesterday. The sun shone brightly this morning. The sky was slightly cloudy and a cocl southerly breeze was blowing. The maximum' temperature yesterday was 60 degrees, compared with 70 degrees on Saturday. The inside minimum last night was 38.2 degrees, and on Saturday night, when one degree of frost was recorded, 34.9 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 30.02 inches, compared with 30.04 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association). The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : General inference: Pressure is still rather low to the east, but an anticyclone is centred over the south Tasman Sea and extends on to the Dominion. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru as follows: Aloderate southerly winds, freshening at times. Weather mainly fine and cold but a few isolated coastal showers, likely inland frosts. Seas rather rough with southerly swell.
