ASHBURTON RAM FAIRENTRIES INCREASE BY 172. An increase of 172 sheep will he entered for the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s ram fair on Wednesday. Entries this year total 1184, compared with 1012 last year, 881 in 1934, 1210 in 1933 and 1308 in 1932, the record year. The predominating breed is Border Leicesters, while English Leicester's and Southdowns are also popular. Stud rams have declined by 37, the entry last year being 63. Details of the entries are:— Flock ewes, 51. Flock rams—Border Leicesters 385, 'Southdowns 248, Corriedales 90, English Leicesters 272, Shropshires 43, total 1038. Stud x'ams, 26. / Unregistered rams, 120.
THE LONDON WOOL SALES. ALL PRICES VERY FIRM. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, March 13. At the wool sales 8695 bales were offered, including 4887 New Zealand and 7733 were sold. There were moderate selections, of which New Zealand crossbreds predominated. A good clearance was effected to active Home trade and 1 Continental competition. Prices were very firm for all descriptions, being 5 per cent, dearer than at the close of the last series. New Zealand greasy crossbred, Hautatara, sold up to 14d, with an average of ma.
