ANTI-TANK ARMAMENTS. RIFLE AND MACHINE-GUN. (United Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, March 12. In the i House of Commons the Secretary of State for War (Mr A. announced the adoption of an anti-tank rifle and small antitank machine-gun. The former was not extremely heavy, ( and the latter could be carried by one man. Tho Government was satisfied that the gun was probably the best in the world. Eight cavalry divisions would bo mechanised in addition, and two which have already undergone the process. Infantry brigades were being reorganised, so, instead of four rifle battalions, there would be three and one machinegun battalion. The former would have the new Bren gun, considered the best machine-gun available; also mortars and anti-tank rifles. The machine-gun battalions would be fully mechanised. The men would be carried and, armed with the new anti-tank gun. Mr Duff-Cooper announced improvement in the conditions of service in the army and territorials.
