BOXING.

BOUT FOR WORLD TITLE, HITCH IN THE NEGOTIATIONS. United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Hay, 9.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A hitch has arisen in the negotiations for the bout for the world welter-weight title between the titleholder, Barney Ross (United States), and the Australian welter-weight champion, Jack Carroll. Despite Mr 0. Lucas’s announcement that he had already arranged the contest through, the agent of Ross in New York, for next summer, Mr J. Munro, manager of the National Boxing Club and the Sydney Stadium, now declares that he has been negotiating for the Ross-Carroll fight through Ross’s manager in Chicago, who had informed him that they knew nothing of any arrangement emanating from Mr Lucas. Beth Mr Lucas and Mr Munro went to Melbourne and saw Carroll and his manager, after which Carroll announced that he would adhere to his contract with Mr Lucas and would not fight Ross under any other promoter.
