BUSH FIRES IN VICTORIA. RICH PASTURES DESTROYED. VALUABLE TIMBER ALSO LOST. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Disastrous bush fires which have been raging in several parts of Victoria for several days yesterday destroyed 15 houses, valuable timber country and rich pastures. Around the Lockwood district people were forced to flee from their hillside homes, with only the belongings they could carry. Fires are burning in the State for ests near Hordenvale. Hundreds of miles of fencing have been destroyed. Telephone and telegraph wires have been burned down and road traffic held up. Victoria is experiencing a heat-wave, the temperature at Melbourne yesterday being 96 degrees.
