GALA CUP CHAMPIONSHIP 4 ' ~ The Mid-Canterbury Bowling SubCentre’s Gala Cup Championship's played at Rakaia on Saturday, resulted in a win for the Allenton club, who won both the rinks and singles competitions. The Ashburton Club won the pairs. Details:— Singles—Colqulioun (Ashburton) beat Rapley (Rakaia) 14-11. Mathieson (Allenton) beat Colquhoun 23-14. Mathieson beat Rapley 24-12. Pairs.—Madden and Featherston (Ashburton) beat Hedges and Templeton (Allenton) 25-17’. Madden and Featherston beat Jones and Morris (Rakaia) 21-20. Rinks—Silverwood, P. Boothroyd, J. Stevenson and Acton (Allenton) beat Gardiner, Black, Tatterson, and Conway (Rakaia) 21-17. Allenton beat Coclcroft, Mactier, A and W. Lane (Ashburton) 19-10.
