BECOMES TOTAL LOSS.
AUXILIARY SCHOONER FAIRBURN (Per Press Association.) WESTPORT, This Day. The auxiliary schooner Fairburn, which struck the western breakwater while attempting to leave Westport on Monday evening, during a gale, and was abandoned by the crew after being badly holed on the rocks, has broken up and is a total Joss. There were no insurances. The Collector of Customs at Westport is holding a preliminary inquiry for reference to the Department. The vessel had only a small quantity of cargo. She was bound for 'Little Wanganui to load timber for Wellington. A few drums of benzine Mere salvaged. The Fairburn was owned by the Karamea Shipping Company, Ltd,
