THE LATEST ISSUES. “Pearson’s Magazine” for Deceinbei ’is a specially enlarged Christmas number, containing a wealth of seasonable fiction and many appropriate articles, m addition to the usual attractive features. Hard on its heels comes the January issue, in which Denis MacKail, Douglas Nevgon, H. M. Raleigh and Stephen King-Hall are featured. An interesting article is by J. Alex I emberton who ingeniously shows that faces fit names. Another is by Harold J. Shepstone dealing with the settlement of the Jews in Palestine. Fiction to suit all tastes is provided in the January number of the “Novel Magazine;” the writers being popular contributors, including John Chancellor, who is represented in a complete novel. “West” and “Short Story” magazines as usual are full of stories of exciting' doings which will be read with avidity by those who like gunplay. . The' thirteenth series of “Great War Adventures” contains the final chaptci of “A Frenchman in Khaki,” from, the retreat of the fifth army to within a few weeks of the Armistice. One of the most interesting narratives is “Sabotage,” showing how prisoners of war were able occasionally to help the good work along. “Everywoman’s” for January will appeal to those for whom it is primarily intended, containing as it does fashion, travel and sport, home, cooking and beauty, liiotliercraft and other sections, besides several complete stories. The magazines were received from Gordon and Gotcli, Ltd., some of them through Mr M. J. Burgess.
