POSTAL OFFICERS.
ANNUAL PICNIC HELD. SPORTS PROGRAAIME RESULTS. Ashburton members ot the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association held their annual picnic on Sunday, when a large party went to Burgess’s Pool, at Springburn. Visitors from Alethven, Springburn, Hinds, Rakaia and Christchurch were also present. The weather was warm, but the sky was overcast. A most enjoyable outing was spent. After luncheon two toasts were honoured. Mr A. Oliver proposed the toast of “The Department,” and this was replied to by Mr AV. J. Alinogue (Postmaster at Ashburton). The toast of “The Association” was proposed by Mr G. B. Brown, and was replied to by Air Robertson, of Christchurch. Toys were distributed among the small children, and reference was made to the generous response there had been to the appeal made to business houses for donations toward the prize fund.
