THE PRESBYTERY.
MEETING IN ASHBURTON. The Ashburton Presbytery met yesterday. Tbc Rev. E. G. Walsh, ordained Home Missionary, recently stationed at Hinds, took his seat in Presbytery for the first time, and was welcomed by the Moderator (the Rev. I). D. MacLachlan). A motion expressing deep sorrow at the death of his Majesty King George and sympathy with Queen Mary and the Royal Family in their great loss was carried, members standing in silence. The application of the Rev. R. Morgan, retired minister, for transfer to the Bay of Plenty Presbytery, was agreed to. A committee was set up to make arrangements for the visit oi the Mod* era tor of the General Assembly (the Rt. Rev. H. H. Barton), in M.i\. In connection with, the laying ol the foundation stone of the Church Hu.l at Tinwald on Tuesday, at 3.30, a was arranged that the Rev. R. S. should preside, the Rev. D. O. ALLachlaii perform the ceremony mi! laying the stone, and Mr T. I). Burnett, M.Tp., and the Rev. L. V. Bihby give the addresses. It was reported that on February 27, at 8 p.m., a meeting would be held at the Hinds Presbyterian Cluirefl, when the Rev. R. S. Watson would unveil a memorial to the late Mr Ainsley Moore, and the Rev. E. C. AA alsli would be inducted into the charge as an oidained Home Missionary. The Rev. L. V. Bihbv was appointed to address minister and congregation. The Rev. A. C. O. Lion, Home Missionary at Springburn, reporter! that lie had held services for the children at tho Staveley health camp, and spoke highly of the good behaviour of the children in the camp. , The Rev. 11. S. Watson was appointed to represent the Ashburton Presbytery on the Advisory Board.
