SUCCESS OF SYDNEY CARNIVAL. SYDNEY, This Day. The approximate takings at the boxing carnival on Thursday night were £3OOO, a large percentage of which will go to charity. Jack Carroll and Bep Van Klaveren each receive £573. Arrangements are in progress to try to match Carroll, winner of Thursday night’s contest, with the world’s welter-weight champion, Barney Ross, in Sydney at Easter. The contest between Ambrose Palmer and Fred Henneberry will be held on February 24.
