DARING ROBBERY.

EXPLOSIVE USED ON SAFE. (Per Press Association.) y WELLINGTON, February 7. A daring and skilful robbery was carried out last night at the Miramar office of the Wellington Gas Company. The office safe was blown open, apparently by gelignite, and a substantial sum of money stolen. Mr J. Hungerford, the engineer in charge, stated that cash to the value of more than £IOO had been taken from the sate. The exact amount is not yet known. Access was apparently gained by forcing a window leading into the office whore the safe was. Mr Hungerford stated that the robbery was a very skilful one. The lock of the sale was badly battered, but. the door was not blown off, just enough gelignite having been used to open the safe. The back of the door received considerable damage.
