GERMANY APPREHENSIVE.

BRITISH FRIENDSHIP DESIRED. NEED FOB COLONIES URGED. (Received This Day, 9.10 a.m.) BRLIN, February 5. Germany is closely following the discussions at Paris. She does not conceal her belief that whatever is done without her is done against her. The old fears of encirclement of Germany are being revived. The Wilhelmstrasse '(Foreign Office) is especially apprehensive regarding the development of British-French-Russian relations as Herr Hitler’s policy has long been to obtain Britain’s friendship, or at least neutrality, in order to gam a free hand to deal with France and expand in southern-eastern Europe. The “Frankfurter Zeitung” in an inspired article, declares, is for us the door into the world. Unfortunately French and British differences have not brought Germany closer to Britain, partly owing to certain aspects of Nazism and partly the fear of iin ture German actions. That distrus must be removed.” , The article, however, goes on to insist on the revision of the treaty, especially in respect to colonies. Is GeiJ manv,” it asks,, “never to be satisfied with access to other peoples’ raw materials?”
