BOY DROWNED.

SUPPOSED SHARK FATALITY. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, Feb. 4. While bathing at South Steyne, Manly, this afternoon, a schoolboy named David Paton, aged 14, is believed to have been taken by a shai-k. Nobody saw the incident, hut Benjamin Redfern, aged 14, witji whom Paton was bathing, heard what he described as a “swish,” and on looking in the direction where he had last seen Paton, he discovered that the latter had disappeared. The water afterwards became blood-stained, leaving little doubt about Paton’s fate. A beach inspector and several surf bathers immediately put out in a surf boat and searched for the missing lad, without success.
