OVER HALF AN INCH OF RAIN. The light rain yesterday continued intermittently throughout the day, becoming heavier late at night and falling steadily this morning, Avhen a light south-westerly breeze bIeAV. Forty points Avere recorded at the Domain Avcather station for the 24 hours from 9 a.m. yesterday to this morning, making a total cf over half an inch for tAVO days. Temperatures yesterday Avere milder than to-day. The maximum yesterday was 02 degrees, and the minimum last night 50 degrees. The barometer shoAved a further fall this morning, pressure at 9 o'clock being 29.51 inches, compared with 29.61 yesterday.

The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: The depression that Avas controlling the Aveather ever the Dominion yesterday is hoav centred east of HaArke's Bay. Another depression has reached the south-AA-est Tasmuu Sea, and barometers are commencing to fall again in southern NeAv Zealand. The forecast for the east coast ot tiia South Island from Blenheim to n n maru is as folloAVs: — Light to moderate southerly winds predominating at first, but gradually backing to northerlies. Weather mainly fair, but cloudy on much of the coast,* with showers or misty rain in places. Temperatures moderate. Seas moderate.
