THE PRIME MINISTER.

TO TOUR DOMINION SHORTLY. CONFERENCE WITH DAIRY BOARD. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 13. Although he will not he able to leave Wellington until the Cabinet has the Government’s policy translated into a form suitable for the law draftsman to proceed with the preparation of the necessary legislature, the Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) hopes to be in a position to make a tour of the main centres of the Dominion before the opening of the session about the end of February. He said to-night that he had invitations from both Maori and European centres j but until the Cabinet had its policy sufficiently advanced for a start to be made with the drafting of the required Bills, he could not arrange an initerary for visits to these places. An exchange of views concerning the marketing of New Zealand dairy produce will take place between Ministers of the Crown and members of the Dairy Board at a meeting to be held to-morrow morning. Mr Savage said the Government had a definite policy for the dairy industry, and it was only right that it should place that policy before the board. Referring to the work of the Ministerial sub-committees appointed to report to the Cabinet on important questions of Government policy, Mr Savage said the finance committee had made a lot of progress in questions connected with the Reserve Bank and the Mortgage Corporation. Transport was being investigated, and the Transport Committee was shaping proposals that were likely to become the subject of legislation. Excellent progress had also been made in the investigation of labour legislation, with particular reference to the restoration of workers’ rights in the Arbitration Court.
