SHOCK FOR ELEPHANT.

SEIZED ELECTRIC PIPING. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 11. An unusual mishap occurred at the circus during a performance at the Winter Show’ building in Wellington last night. Several elephants were accommodated in a portion of the building outside the circus arena, when one, apparently in an exploratory mood, reached up with her trunk and pulled down a piece of piping housing the electric cables. The elephant received the full shock anti was knocked unconscious. The other elephants, alarmed at her sudden fall, began a shrill trumpeting and two midget elephants, which were giving a turn in the ring, refused to go on wWi the performance and left the ring. However, quiet was soon restored and the elephant which was the cause of the trouble was not long in recovering.
