The Registrar-General’s return, just published, estimates the population oi England and "Wales at the middle oi 1933 at 40,350,000, of which 19,357,000 were females. Marriages in 1933 were 319,191, an increase of about 11,000 over those in 1932.

-Live births totalled 580,413, or 33,559 fewer than in 1932.
