Lost in the clouds during a violent storm, a British amateur pilot', Phil Avery, who was taking an aeroplane for delivery at Basle, struck and severed high tension wires over Belfort fortress, carrying 70,000 volts. Miraculously he escaped uninjured, and safely landed the crippled aeroplane.
