A cloudburst over the Newbridge and Trunkey districts, near Bathhurst. caused widespread damage to farms, roads, bridges and homes. The streets of Trunkey were covered to a depth of several feet and floodwaters entered many houses. Two bridges were washed away and the town is practically isolated. The damage to the crops is very heavy.

TWO MEN DROWNED IN CAR.

SYDNEY, January 12

Two men, W. H. Philip and J\ A. Philip, were drowned when their sedan car was swept away by flood waters from a causeway on the road between Young and Wallend into a flooded creek. The ear was carried a quarter of a mile down the creek. There had been a cloudburst and the water was 4J feet deep on the causeway when the car attempted to cross.

HEAVY LOSS AT CANBERRA. TEN INCHES IN 1A HOURS. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. Damage estimated at £15,000 was caused .in the Northern districts of Canberra by a. cloudburst. Roads and culverts were washed away, and extensively damaged houses. All street traffic was held up. Many motorists had narrow escapes. The damage was confined to the residential areas. It is estimated that nearly 10 inches of rain fell in \\ hours.
