The production of controllable pitch airscrews in Britain, which dates from the acquisition in 1934 of certain American patents by the de Havilland Company, is making steady progress. The manufacturers have contracts aggregating several hundreds of thousands of pounds for controllable- pitch airscrews which will be fitted to tho 29 new large flying-boats which are under order for addition to Imperial Airwavs commercial fleet.
