ALLEGED THEFT

AN AGENT AT RAKAIA. MONEYS OF A COMPANY. REMANDED IN CUSTODY. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Several charges of the theft of moneys were brought against Henry Alan* Moray-Smith, company agent, aged 28, in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. The amount involved was said to be about £2OO, and was alleged to have been stolen from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, Ltd., while Smith was acting as the company’s agent at Rakaia. The sums mentioned, with the exception of one, were the property of the company, and were alleged to ha/e been stolen during 1935. Accused was remanded in custody until to-morrow.
