NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. ALLENTON WIN IN PAIRS FIRST ROUND. /Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The pairs championships at the New Zealand bowling tournament were started to-dav, 19 city and suburban greens being in use for sectional play. The title was not defended, the Hamilton pair (Mr H. G. Loveridge and R. N. Pilkington, skip) being unable to attend, but many previous winners of the title were again in the running. Among the players were 20 New South Wales bowlers, who will take part in the pairs and rinks before starting a tour of the Dominion. The greens, though not exceptionally fast, were playing well. The games started late to permit the New South Wales players to compete.
