TEN LIVES LOST
DRIFTER SINKS IN A GALE. OTHER BRITISH SHIPS DAMAGED THREE OF A CREW INJURED. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) - LONDON, January 7. A great gale, during' which gusts of 100 miles an hour were registered, swept the south-west coast of Britain on Sunday and yesterday morning shipping received a heavy buffeting. Three small vessels were damaged and put into Falmouth for repairs last night. Three of the crew of one of the vessels was injured, including the chief officer, who was swept off the bridge. The Lowestoft drifter, Shore Breeze, which left Plymouth last week, foundered in a gale off the Welsh coast at the week-end, with the loss of 10 lives. Wreckage came ashore at Milford Haven. Another Lowestoft fishing vessel’, the fate of which was causing anxiety, reached port to-day under tow, having met with a severe battering by heavy seas.—British Official Wireless.
