THE HEALTH CAMP

CHILDREN LEAVE ASHBURTON. SPENDING MONTH AT STAVELEY. TWENTY-THREE ATTENDING. Children who will attend the health camp at Staveley l for a month left from the Ashburton Post Office at 2 p.m. to-day m a bus ans two cars. All of the 24 children were present except one who is too ill to attend and two from Mayfield who will go to the camp from there. < The children were accompanied by the honorary camp mother (Mrs H. J. Constable). A large number of parents and friends saw them depart, while representatives of the Health Camp Committee, Mr E. C. Bathurst (chairman), Mr W. J. Minogue, Mrs Minogue (secretary) and Mr W. G. Gallagher were also present. All arrangements for the camp were completed yesterday, and everything will be ready when they arrive this afternoon. The camp will be attended by 12 children from Ashburton schools and the remainder from schools in the County, who assembled in Ashburton to-day. A membef of the Health Camp Executive expressed the opinion that there would be no doubt that an improvement in the children’s health would be shown at the end of the month. The party, he said, was a very happy family. The committee had already received many offers of food and vegetables for the camp, including a number to-day from the district round Staveley, and it was hoped that these would continue. Visitors will be welcome at the camp at any time.
