ELMWOOD BEATS RAKAIA. A friendly game of bowds, played on the Rakaia greens, between rinks from the Elmwood Club and. Rakaia Club resulted in a win for the visitors by 85 points to 78. Mr C. Garrigan (president of the Rakaia Club) welcomed the visitors. In replying, Mr T. D. Lonnie, oil behalf of the visitors, asked the Rakaia Club to accept a trophy as a token of appreciation for the pleasant games that they had had on their three previous visits. Mr Lennie wished that the trophy be competed for in a handicap singles tournament among the Rakaia players present. Osborne (Island Bay) beat Hepburn and R. F. Robinson (Seatoun), 22-14. SOUTHLAND TOURNAMENT. INVERCARGILL, January 3. The Southland Bowling Centre’s New Year tournament was concluded to-day in fine weather. The championships were won as follow: Rinks—H. R. Morton, F. Farquhar, J. lire, and A. V. Keast, skip (Northend, Invercargill). Pairs—A. V. Keast and J. lire, skip (Northend). Singles—N. W. McGorlick (Bluff).
