HIGHEST PRICE FOR YEARS. WHEAT ADVANCES IN SYDNEY. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, January 2. Australian wheat-groAvers to-day received a further advance of lid a bushel for Avheat, which, Avith the recent similar increase, brought the value of both silo and bagged grain to 3s lid a bushel, the highest price for years. To-day’s advance is due entirely to tlie improved condition of the overseas market. CANADIAN WHEAT STOCKS. SMALLER QUANTITY IN STORE. OTTAWA, December 31. The Bureau of Statistics announces that Avheat in store on December 27 was 261,000,000 bushels, 3,000,000 bushels less than the amount on the corresponding date of 1934. NATIONAL BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. The General Manager of the National Bank of NeAV Zealand, Ltd., announces payment on Saturday of an interim dividend at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum, free of tax, for the half-year ended September 30 last. The dividend will be payable in NeAV Zealand, at any branch of the National Bank of NeAV Zealand, Ltd., at current rate of exchange for demand drafts on the date of negotiation. This'makes the interim dividend equal to £2 9s, 5 per cent. This bank shoAvs its capital and reserves as under: — £ Subscribed capital ... ... 6,000,000 Paid-up capital 2,000,000 Reserve fund (invested in Government securities) ... 1,000,000 Currency reserve (invested in Government securities) ... 500,000 Reserve liability of shareholders ••• 6,000,000 £9,500,000 And in addition there are undivided profits carried fonvard of £115,366. In the balance-sheet liquid assets stand at £8,251,000, Avbich are equivalent to 55 per cent., or 10/lld in the £ of total liabilities to the public, and for every £1 of its own funds the bank is holding only £4 3s 5d of the public’s money, Avhich is an exceptionally strong position.
