NEGOTIATIONS LIKELY.

POTATO AND ORANGE “WAR.” AUSTRALIAN MINISTER’S VISIT. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The “Sydney Daily Telegraph” says that hopes of settling the potato and orange war between Australia and New Zealand on a satisfactory basis are held by the Federal authorities. Negotiations are expected to reach a head when Dr. Earle Page (Minister of Commerce), who is to leave for England on January 22, calls on the New Zealand Government. Federal Ministers believe that a concession to> New Zealand potato farmers would be to Australia’s advantage, as the market in the Dominion for Australian citrus fruits would be far greater than the market available here for New Zealand potatoes.
