PILGRIMS AT BETHLEHEM.
ETHIOPIANS TAKE PART. JERUSALEM, December 25. The Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem were attended by thousands of pilgrims from all parts of the world, but there was a conspicuous . absence of British or American tourists at the Christmas Eve ceremonies in the Church of the Nativity. A particular feature of the observances in the Holy Land this year was the participation of the Ethiopians, although their Christmas holidays will officially begin a fortnight hence. Their prayers were offered for the success of their forces against Italy. The ringing of the bells at the basilica adjoining the Church of the Nativity opened the special British Empire broadcasting programme.
