CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. • CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 20. # There was very little activity in Christchurch grain and produce markets during the past week, and conditions will remain so until after the holidays. There are ho changes in prices from those quoted at the beginning of the week. Very little forward dealing in potatoes has taken place, and North Island buyers have intimated that they will not be interested in forward deliveries until well into January, The grain and seed market remains quiet, and few new lines have come in. Flour prices are unchanged. Following are quoted prices to be paid to farmers on trucks at country stations, sacks extra, unless otherwise mentioned:— *

THE DUNEDIN MARKET.

DUNEDIN, December 20.

Supplies of fowl wheat continue to be drawn from Canterbury, but stocks are now on the low side. The local price for good whole fowl wheat is 5s 6d, ex stores, sacks extra. Inferior quality is selling at considerably lower prices. A large proportion of this wheat is musty. Business in the oat market is restricted to local inquiry. Stores have been bare for some time, and any small shipping orders from the North Island have to be filled, from Uluff, but taking the market all round, the demand for oats is not very great. A certain amount of interest is being taken by buyers in forward business in new oats, the prices mentioned being equivalent to 2s 3d on trucks, sacks extra, for A Cartons. Crops of oats both in Otago and Southland aie in splendid order. Supplies or chart are still being obtained from Canterbury. ' , . • ' The wholesale seeds business has been at a complete standstill this month, and with the exception of one or two large Government orders, theiG have been no inquiries. It is now apparent that there will be a canyover in a great many seed lines, and this will no doubt result in the market opening lower than was the case with the last season’s crops. there is little if any change in the prices of seeds.
