LAST RESPECTS PAID.

FUNERAL OF MR H. J. CHAPMAN. LARGE NUMBER ATTEND. The funeral of Mr H. J. Chapman, which took place at the Ashburton Cemetery this afternoon, was attended by a very large number of friends and members of public bodies wit A which Mr Chapman was associated. The bearers were Messrs G. Day, A. Sutherland, J. Keig and John Arnst. The service at the house and that at the graveside* were conducted by the Venerable Archdeacon A. J. Petrie. The Ashburton Silver Band attended at the cemetery and played two verses of “Jesu, Lover of My Soul.” Among those present were: Messrs J. C. C. McLachlan, H. R. D. Porter and A.
