WOMEN’S DIVISION.
THE ASHBURTON BRANCH. Members of the A'shburton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union were thanked at then meeting yesterday by the president (Mrs E. M. Begg) for their assistance on Hospital Day. The Matron of the Ashburton Public Hospital (Miss E. J. Watt) was also thanked for her services. Mrs J. Bennett reported that she had sold £9 worth of basketware for the blind.. Hie housekeeping report stated that 20 housekeepers had been sent out in five months by the Ashburton branch. Miss Watt gave an interesting address on her travels. Competitions resulted as follows: — Bloom: Miss C. Macmillan 1, Mrs J. Hawke 2, Mrs A. W. Penney 3. Vegetable: Mrs Hawke 1, Mrs Begg 2, Miss Macmillan 3. Fruit: Mrs Penney 1, Miss Macmillan 2, Mrs Macmillan 3. Fruit cake: Mrs Penney 1, Miss Macmillan 2.
