THE WOOL SALES. EASIER MARKET AT SYDNEY. SYDNEY, December 9. The wool sales were resumed to-day, when 13,014 bales were offered. Of these 11,469 were sold at auction and 1872 privately. . . There was good general competition, but in sympathy with the recently reported easier trend in other Australian centres and London, the market compared with closing levels at the previous Sydney series, was from par to o per cent, lower. Greasy merino sold to 23d. AVERAGE £l2 9/- A BALE. TOTAL PAYMENT OF £247,000. AUCKLAND, December 9. Tho first of tho new season’s wool cheques will be distributed to-monow, when growers in tho Auckland piovince will receive an aggregate amount estimated at £247,000 on account o

the first Auckland sale, held on November 26. All sections of the community should benefit by the release of this large sum, which is almost three times the cheque received for the first Auckland sale last season. Christmas trading in the city should have a distinct fillip. The final figures will not be available until to-morrow, but from preliminary calculations, the average price per bale should be about £l2 9s or £l2 10s. This compares with £7 16s for the first sale last season and £l3 18s for the November sale in 1933. It is the highest average price, except that of 1933, since the 1929 average of £l2 9s. GEAR MEAT COMPANY. The directors of the Gear MeaL_Company, in their report for the year ended November 30, 1935, state that, including the amount brought forward, and after making allowances for depreciation and the payment of an interim dividend, there remains a balance of £15,213 7s, which the directors recommend for appropriation as follows In payment of a dividend of 9d a share, less the interim dividend of 3a paid in June, £11,500;* to carry forward £3713 10s. . . , - The profit and loss account shows tlie net profit for the year at £14,928 14s sd, compared with £22,912 11s 9d for the year ended November 30, 1934.
