THE PRESBYTERIANS
MINISTERIAL TRANSFER. QUESTION FOR A COBIIMTTTEE. (Per Press. Association). WELLINGTON, November 13. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church affirmed the desirability of a ministerial transfer committee, one to be appointed this year in a purely advisory capacity and to consist of four ministerial members, Presbyteries in each of the four main centres each to appoint one, with a Wellington convener. In the ease of self-sustaining charges the Assembly proposes discountenancing pasteratcs of less than five years, except in the ease of a first charge. The committee is to report to the next Assembly on the advisability of a permanent committee, ‘ A protest by a minister unnamed, voiced by the Rev. J. Starnes (Danaevirke), to the inclusion of a National Government mlvertisement in the Church paper “The Outlook,” met with a mixed reception. No resolution was moved. . Presenting a. report on behalf of the Special Committee, the Rev. R. S. \Vatson moved that “The Outlook” be published in \Vellington. He said the general opinion in the Church was that the place of publication should be changed from Dunedin. ' There was not likely to be a decrease in circuxauon in the south, he contended, anu eertainly a larger circulation could be hoped for in the north. The report was seconded by the Rev. J. Davie (Masterton). , An amendment that the paper be published in Christchurch. was lost, and the motion carried. It was decided also to affirm the principle of a full-time editor or editorn’ianager. A committee is to be set up in Wellington to nominate an editor or editor-manager to the next As—sembly, and to take all necessary steps to have the paper transferred to Wellington.
