ANGLING.

BETTER CONDITIONS AT ASHBURTON. * Fishing was spoiled at the mouth of the Rangitata River during the weekend by the rough seas. About 12 anglers visited the mouth, but only a few trout were caught. Better conditions were met with by anglers fishing in the Ashburton River, which was in good order after the recent fresh. A good number of small trout ranging u'p to 31b were caught at the mouth, and two anglers fishing upstream landed 13 trout in excellent condition averaging lib each.
