MR J. CARR’S MEETINGS. ■ -V •• Mr James Carr (National candidate for the Mid-Canterbury electorate) continued his campaign with two meetings, one, at Dromora and one at Chertsey last evening. There was a good attendance at Dro- , more, there being a number of women ,■ in the audience. The speaker, who followed the lines of his previous ad- ' dresses, was given an attentive hear- r ing and at the conclusion was accorded a vote of thanks on the motion ; of Messrs L. Hanrahan and H- J- , Wilson. Mr R. Campbell presided. Mr A. Doig. presided oyer an attendance of about 80 people at Chertsey, and here again there were women ;,; present. Mr Carr was accorded .an excellent reception, and was thanked by Messrs W. Wilkinson »xnd J. **urrowes after he had answered several questions. ■■ i .•■■■ :
MR HERRING’S CAMPAIGN. Mr H. E. Herring, the official Labour candidate, addressed a gathering of 25 residents in the Pendaryes Hall last evening. The audience listened attentively to a 90-hiiuute address on the main points of the Labour policy. The candidate was accorded, by, acclamation, a hearty vote of thanks, moved by Mr J. W. Watson. Mx* F. W. Ironside presided. Mr Herring also spoke at Dorie on Wednesday, journeying from Pen* darves ill heavy rain. The stormy- ' night did not prevent settlers from. 7 turning out, and 52 residents attended. Mr Herring spoke for 90 minutes on s . many points of the Labour poliey-Mr S; Gardiner moved, and Mr M-.Mtm-der seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker for his stirring address. Mr J. Muckle presided.
MR H. HOLLAND RETIRES.
HIS SON A CANDIDATE CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 6. Mr HL Holland to-day announced his withdrawal from the Christchurch North seat, which he has held since 1925 at the forthcoming general election.’ His announcement is that, act-. ing on medical advice, he had- reluctantly decided to withdraw his dature. The seat will be contested lor the. Government by Mr Hollands son, Mr S- G. Holland. 1 V .
FOUR CANDIDATES.
THE WANGANUI ELECTORATE. ;- WANGANUI, Nov. 6. , Mr James T. Hogan has decided to contest the Wanganui seat in the lateral colours supporting the principles ofHliat Party as laid down by Ballance, Seddon and Ward. All’ Kogan represented Wanganui, supporti#fg the Seddon administration, from 1905- until 1911. He won the Rangitikei seat in the i 928 election, defeating.Mr W- S. Glenn by a majority ,of > more than 1000. He lost that'seat in 1931 to Mr Alex. Stuart by a margin of seven votes. His decision wlil make a fourcornered contest for Wanganui between Messrs Bain (National), Vcitch (Democrat), Cotterill (Labour), : and Hogan (Liberal).
NATIONALIST FOR WESTLAND.
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Mr H. Ri. Young, who contested thd Avon seat against Mr D. G. Sullivan at the last general election, has been announced as the National candidate, for Westland.
