LONDON, November 6. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, wtih ,Mr T. Pethybridge as co-pilot, left Lympne for Australia at 6.27 a.m. They are flying the Lockheed Altair machine Lady Southern Cross, in which Sir Charles and Mr P. G. Taylor flew from Australia to tne United States a year ago. The machine had been repaired since tne wings were damaged by hail and snow when Sir Charles set out for Australia recently and was forced flown at Brindisi. ■ . The permissible load of petrol from England was 13S gallons, which would enable him to cover about 1100 miles at a cruising speed of 190 miles an hour, but when he is in Europe Sir Charles Kingsford Smith may take on additional petrol. ■lf the early stages of the flight are satisfactory he intends to try to break the record. His amsftion is to reach Melbourne at noon on Saturday, Australian time, which will beat the record set by Messrs C. W. A. Scott and T. Campbell-Black. LEAVES ROME FOR BAGDAD. “EVERYTHING GOING WELL.”

(Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) ATHENS, November 6. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith arrived at 4.30 p.m. and took off again for Bagdad within' an hour and 40 minutes. He said that everything was going well. The weather was good but bumpy.
